This time it’s all about weight or more like fat loss.
Yes, we did talk about diets, some medications that have made it into the market, its problems and its indications, why we are the fattest in South East Asia, and a little mention of Bariatric surgery BUT the focus this time around was more on what lots of Malaysians somehow know little about; the Intra-Gastric Baloon for weight loss!
It’s a non-surgical, removable, easily placed weight loss tool that fits in after diets haven’t worked and before surgery is considered. It is a nice adjunct, and costs only a fraction of the price, which doesn’t hurt! Here we discuss the 2 commonly used products (no brand names mentioned in the interview) and Gerard gets to feel what one actually feels like! The crew at Bernama TV did too after. - The Allurion swallowable Intra-gastric balloon. (It does not require endoscopy for placement or removal, stays in for 4 months and you can lose up to 15% of your body weight.)
- The Spatz3 adjustable Intra-Gastric balloon. (It requires endoscopy for placement and removal but it can stay in the stomach for up to 12 months and you could lose up to 25kg. An additional feature is that the size of the balloon can be increased to increase weight loss further.)
